Tips & Gratuities Policy

At ARE, we operate a ‘TRONC’ system to ensure that tips and gratuities are fairly distributed among site employees. This system, however, does not extend to the Operations Manager and/or any Head Office staff based on site.

Ensuring that tips are fairly distributed among all eligible employees fosters a sense of equality and respect. It recognises the collective effort required to deliver high-quality service and supports a positive and inclusive workplace culture. By adhering to these principles, we create an environment where every employee feels valued and motivated, contributing to a more cohesive and effective team.

Policy Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to the acceptance and distribution of tips:

  • Customer Discretion: Any tip should be offered entirely at the will and discretion of the customer.
  • Consistent Service Standards: Regardless of whether a customer has tipped in the past, does tip, or is likely to tip, all customers should receive consistent high standards of service.
  • No Solicitation: Tips must be offered at the free will of the customer and should not be solicited or encouraged in any way.

Participation in this scheme requires employees to sign the Tips and Gratuities Disclaimer provided during induction. This disclaimer outlines responsibilities regarding VAT, Income Tax, and National Insurance contributions. This policy is adopted on a non-contractual basis and therefore does not form part of your contractual terms and conditions. It is subject to change at any time at the company’s discretion.
